Privacy Policy

What we collect
Drowse does not require an account. It does not automatically collect your name, email address, account details, sleep data, or health data. If you choose to share analytics, we collect the technical and usage data described below. We do not track you across apps or websites.
Health data
Drowse plays ambient sounds to help you fall asleep. It does not monitor or measure your sleep or health. It does not use Health Connect or request Android health or fitness permissions. The app does not automatically collect sleep patterns, sleep duration, heart rate, biometric data, or other health data.
Analytics
Drowse sends no app analytics unless you consent on first launch or in Settings → Privacy. With your consent, Drowse records which screens you visit, which sounds you select, how you use the timer, the app version, the device type, and the operating system. A pseudonymous installation identifier groups events from the same installation across sessions. It is not linked to your name, email address, phone number, or a hardware identifier. A contracted analytics provider processes these events and stores them in the EU. Analytics does not include account, health, or sleep data.
Feedback
Choosing Send feedback, or answering Not really to the review prompt, opens an optional form. Nothing leaves your device unless you submit the form. If you submit it, we receive your free-text response, whether you opened the form from Settings or the review prompt, the app version, and the operating system. Each submission gets a fresh one-use identifier that cannot be joined to app analytics. Our analytics and error-monitoring provider processes the submission and stores it in the EU for up to one year. Do not include your name, contact details, health data, sleep data, or other sensitive information. If you do, we receive it as part of your response.
Session recordings (optional, off by default)
Session recording is off by default and has its own control in Settings → Privacy. It requires analytics consent. Turning recording off leaves analytics on. When enabled, session recordings show which screens you visit and where you tap. They do not include microphone audio. The same provider processes and stores recordings in the EU for 30 days. You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Privacy.
Website analytics
The Drowse website measures traffic, page performance, how far people read, which links they click, and aggregate patterns of clicks, scrolling, and pointer movement. We set no cookies, store no IP addresses, and collect no personal identifiers. We cannot link one visit to another or track you across websites.
Crash and error reporting
Crash and error reporting is off until you consent to analytics. These reports can include the device model, operating system version, app version, error logs, and diagnostic context. The same contracted provider processes and stores them in the EU. We do not intentionally include names, email addresses, account details, health data, or sleep data.
App updates
Drowse receives normal app updates through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Versions before 1.5.6 may also check for over-the-air updates through a third-party service; that check sends basic device and app-version metadata but no personal information. Version 1.5.6 and later do not contact an over-the-air update service.
Data storage
Drowse stores your selected sound, timer setting, usage counters, and other app preferences on your device. We cannot access this local data. Uninstalling Drowse removes it.
Children
Drowse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Your privacy rights
We use legitimate interest as the legal basis for the cookieless website analytics described above. App analytics, crash and error reports, and session recordings require your consent. Sending feedback is a separate voluntary action. Analytics and session recording have separate controls in Settings → Privacy. Turning analytics off stops all app analytics and session recording and replaces the local pseudonymous identifier. Under the GDPR, you can ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data. You can also withdraw consent or object to processing based on legitimate interest. Drowse has no accounts, so app analytics are associated with a pseudonymous installation identifier, not a person. Feedback uses a separate one-use identifier, though we receive any identifying information you put in your response. If you contact us about your privacy rights, we will help where technically possible. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
