Privacy Policy

What we collect

Drowse does not require an account and does not collect names, email addresses, account details, sleep data, or health data. We collect limited technical and usage data to keep the app working, understand how it is used, and improve it. We do not track you across apps or websites.

Health data

Although Drowse may be used as a sleep aid, it does not access, collect, store, or share any health data. This includes, but is not limited to, sleep patterns, sleep duration, heart rate, biometric data, Health Connect data, or any other data defined as health data under Google Play policies. Drowse does not use Health Connect and does not request Android health or fitness permissions. The app plays ambient sounds to help you fall asleep. It does not monitor, measure, or track your sleep or health in any way.

Analytics

We collect limited, privacy-friendly app usage analytics to understand how Drowse is used and improve the app. This may include events such as which screens are visited, which sounds are selected, how the timer is used, app version, device type, and operating system. Each app installation is assigned an anonymous identifier so events from the same install can be grouped together; this identifier is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or any hardware identifier. Analytics events are processed by a third-party analytics provider with EU data residency, acting as our processor under contract. We do not use analytics to collect names, email addresses, account details, health data, or sleep data.

Session recordings (optional, off by default)

If you opt in via the in-app toggle (Settings → Privacy, off by default), we additionally collect pseudonymous visual session recordings of how you interact with the app: which screens you visit and where you tap. No microphone or audio is recorded. Text inputs and image content are masked before the recording leaves your device. Recordings are processed by the same analytics provider as above, with EU data residency, and are retained for 30 days. You can change this choice at any time in Settings → Privacy. The first time the prompt appears is on your fourth time opening the app; if you decline or dismiss it, we will not ask again.

Website analytics

The Drowse website uses anonymous, privacy-friendly analytics to understand basic traffic, page performance, aggregate heatmaps of clicks, scrolling, and pointer movement, how far pages are read, and which links are clicked. No cookies are set, no IP addresses are stored, and no personal identifiers are collected. Every visit is unlinkable to any other. We do not track you across websites.

Crash and error reporting

We collect crash reports and error diagnostics to keep the app stable. Crash reports may include technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, error logs, and diagnostic context. Crash reports are processed by the same analytics provider as above, with EU data residency, acting as our processor under contract. We do not intentionally include names, email addresses, account details, health data, or sleep data in crash reports.

App updates

The app checks for over-the-air updates through a third-party update service. This involves sending basic device and app version metadata to the update provider. No personal information is included.

Data storage

Your preferences and app state, such as selected sound, timer setting, and usage counters, are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this local app data. If you uninstall the app, locally stored preferences are removed with it.

Children

Drowse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your privacy rights

We process analytics and crash data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping Drowse working and improving it. Session recordings are processed only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings → Privacy. Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because Drowse does not use accounts, we cannot link analytics or crash data to a specific person. We can identify data tied to a single anonymous installation identifier. If you contact us with a privacy-related request, we will help where technically possible. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
